Summary

In Bangladesh, Water.org works with financial institutions as partners, helping them to develop Water and Sanitation lending portfolios through which borrowers can create water and sanitation assets such as tube wells, latrines, etc. Water.org is designing partnerships with commercial banks and other financial institutions, to deepen the market of water and sanitation financing. Also working on Asset Origination, Infrastructure, Utilities and service providers.

Water.org is building relationships with sector leaders and government organizations that can substantively propel Water and Sanitation financing, under an imperative to contribute to financing SDG. The Manager - Sector Engagement & Infrastructure role is a key role, responsible for developing and managing relationships with systems-level players in the government and private sector. Execution of this role involves close coordination with Water.org’s Head Office, Regional Office and the Bangladesh Country Office. This position reports to the Regional Leadership.

The Manager - Sector Engagement & Infrastructure position is based in Bangladesh.

Key Responsibilities

This position is responsible for managing the water and sanitation financing advocacy initiatives and for the planning and management of infrastructure partnerships. Some key responsibilities are as follows:

Sector Engagement 50%
• Coordinate, facilitate and contribute to the development of Water.org’s policy input at different levels in line with the country and organizational strategy and priority
• Develop and strengthen partnerships and alliances with key sector stakeholders such as Ministry of Water resources, Ministry of Planning, Prime Minister’s Office, financial authorities such as Bangladesh Banks, MRA, PKSF, international organizations such as UNICEF, and government department such as DPHE, LGRD for effective collaboration & co-ordination in line with Water.org’s advocacy strategy
• Identify, prioritize and manage advocacy programs and undertake effective engagement with policy process to explore opportunities to bring impact investors into the WSS market to expand capital mobilization
• Ensure the advocacy strategy is grounded in Water.org’s priority areas of work and national context analysis to maximize the prospects of successful policy change for WSS sector
• Communicate and ensure compliance to grants agreements or contracts among partners and stakeholders to ensure grant deliverables are timely met
• Oversee a high-quality policy and research agenda that shapes and supports Water.org’s advocacy agenda and is well utilized to build thought leadership in Bangladesh to expand capital mobilization in water and sanitation sector.
• As Project Manager, coordinate efforts of existing Water.org Program Managers, to leverage their technical input as required into the said pilot projects
• Assist Regional Leadership in overall strategy development for the Bangladesh country function

Infrastructure Partnership & Business Development 40%

• Manage development, execution and sustainable growth of key infrastructure partnerships and priorities for impact across the country
• Contribute to the development of strategies at regional and country-specific levels and assist in the development of programmatic roadmaps, action plans and budgets.
• Oversee the country landscaping of the service provider sector, identify Water.org opportunities to enter the market and showcase Water.org’s services to financial institutions and capital providers.
• Develop and manage a diverse portfolio of influential relationships and partnerships with water and sanitation infrastructure projects, municipalities, water technology companies, governments and regulatory bodies, bilateral / multilateral bodies, impact investors and other stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain a strong position for Water.org's impact and visibility across the country,
• Strengthen Water.org's efforts to drive investment in WSS sector through new resources and large investments, ensuring new water and sanitation services reach low-income households in the community

Organizational Support????????????????????????????????????? ???????????? 10%

• Participate in assisting with the development of new tools and processes, membership on cross-functional committees as requested, and/or participation at internal or external conferences or workshops.
• Serve as a knowledge base for Water.org and represent Water.org at events and in written publications to advance the organizational mission and vision.
• Generate timely reports related to sector engagement and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with the Grants Management team to develop and review written proposals and progress reports, connecting donor interests to Water.org's Bangladesh programs


Management Responsibility:

Qualifications

Required:

• A Bachelors Degree and 10+ years in business and/or non-profit organizations in relation to finance, project management, or business.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience of demonstrated advancement in strategic roles, stakeholder relationship management, strategic communication, partner relationship management and advocacy. Candidates with prior work experience in advocacy with multilateral organizations, government organizations, and financial services organizations will be given preference. Some experience in leadership in the private sector will be prioritized.
Proficiency in English (written and verbal)

Preferred:

• Passion for relationship-management, networking, and driving value through engagement
• Post-graduate degree from a leading local or global university in any field
• Prior work experience in Financial Services and/or Water and Sanitation sectors in Bangladesh
• Prior work experience in donor-funded project design, piloting and end-to-end project management
• Strong demonstrated work ethic and emotional intelligence

Travel Requirement: Up to 25% of domestic and global travel.
