Washington, Mar 13: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that CIA director Mike Pompeo will now serve as the Secretary of State.
He will replace Rex Tillerson.
Rex Tillerson has been removed from the post.
Rex Tillerson was appointed to the post over a year ago.
Trump tweeted to confirm the development.
He said Gina Haspel will now serve as the new Director of the CIA.
Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!
