Greenpeace International is seeking an experienced Head of Global HR who will lead a team, working to strengthen the strategic HR function throughout our global network of Greenpeace organisations.

As Head of Global HR you will have understanding of HR at a strategic and international level, with substantial experience in working in international civil society organisations. Your excellent communication and people management skills will help build HR capability in the Greenpeace global network.

The position is structural and a one year contract is offered initially. Location is flexible and to be negotiated during the recruitment process, although must be a country with an established Greenpeace Office. Because remuneration is dependent on location, this can be discussed during the application process.

Your main responsibilities will include :
Implementing the global People Strategy, supporting senior leaders of National & Regional organisations (NROs) to put in place the expertise, tools, guidance and systems they need.
Handle highly complex organizational HR issues (people or systems oriented) and where necessary advise the board and senior management at NRO's.
Build and strengthen the global HR community via the innovative use of communication tools and platforms to respond collectively to the emerging needs of the organisation and to learn from each other.
Oversee the development and implementation of strategic global human resources data collection, analysis and information systems to improve the overall effectiveness of the organisation.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders within and outside of Greenpeace to ensure the delivery of the Greenpeace International's objectives. This function will include sharing of best HR practices and emerging trends internally and externally.
Lead the effective performance of the Global HR team, proactively identifying and allocating resources to new and emerging pieces of work, while empowering and coaching the team to learn, and grow.
Manage the global HR budget and team workforce planning to ensure efficient and effective use of resources according to the standards and systems at Greenpeace International.
What we are looking for:
5+ years of experience in a position combining at least: management of organisational change; HR/training; in an international organisation.
Proven experience in navigating the diversity of international HR policies, programmes, laws and issues.
Proven ability to drive data-driven strategy and decision-making in a global network
Desirable: educated at Master degree level in Organisation Development, Human Resources Development and/ or Organisational Change.
Fluent in English (written and verbal) and able to communicate ideas effectively, invite constructive dialogue and inspire audiences. Additional language skills advantageous.
Proven ability to build outstanding teams.
Experience with managing budgets and processes (preparing, presenting, monitoring).
Strong coaching, analytical and negotiation skills.
Able to understand the internal political landscape at Greenpeace and how to navigate it
Willingness to travel frequently.
