For our growing business, we are looking to strengthen our international and dynamic team in Berlin with a Head of Research and Development Unit (m/f/d)

Tasks & Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced, results-driven, and passionate team lead and a solid solution architect to join our Research and Development unit consisting of 3 teams: Solution Architecture, Data Architecture and Software Development.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with broad knowledge of data transfer protocols, data engineering and software solutions. Our perfect candidate loves experimenting with new technologies and has excellent communication skills. As we run banks in several African countries, the assignment would be described as to build/transform a technology for cross-organisational service- and data-driven culture, including re-/modelling CBS (Core Banking System), DWH, BI dashboards and integrating systems via Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) locally in each bank and globally on a holding level.

• Manage, develop required skills and set targets and priorities to Research and Development unit
• Embrace the agile culture
• Improve productivity of agile development teams
• Steer strategic discussions for service layer design
• Manage development of a hybrid data warehouse – on-premise and cloud-based
• Manage development of Business Intelligence applications
• Design/review optimal solution architecture (data, middleware, API)
• Review data structures and transformation rules
• Provide data science, cloud service and related workshops to company staff

Minimum Requirements

• 3y+ experience with software integrations
• 2y+ years experience with web-services
• Solid software development experience(C#, C++ or Java)
• Hands-on experience working with SCRUM/Agile
• Experience in staff management
• Experience with MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, cloud databases and Data Warehousing
• Experience with the cloudservices (Azure, Google or AWS)
• Experience with CI/CD
• Experience of Talend ESB/DI Services
• Experience with Python/JavaScript
• Experience with the large scale projects
• Experience with full software development lifecycle (analysis, design, development, testing, releasing, support)
• Working experience of Linux and Windows OS
• Negotiation experience
• Banking domain expertise is a big plus
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, K8s)
• Knowledge of SQL and BI
• Willingness and ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Sharp eye for details, self-discipline and self-learning capabilities
• Curiosity to experiment and discover new and more efficient ways to deliver solutions
• Team player with solid team leadership skills
