Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. In collaboration with more than 100 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

Main function: The Communications Assistant supports the development and implementation of communications products and strategies that communicate TI’s mission, programmes, projects and advocacy positions targeted at a range of different audiences. Working under the supervision of the Head of Communications, the Communications Assistant provides assistance to deliver written and visual communications that convey Transparency International’s messaging and position.

Reporting lines: Head of Communications

Responsibilities:

• Support the development of communications products, including video, social media content, written content both online and offline
• Support communications opportunities, especially in the press, to increase visibility of TI activities, chapters and programmes
• Assist TI-S media relations for agreed advocacy and policy priority issues and products, fielding media inquiries where appropriate, delivering media lists
• Support the Communications Team in the work with other TI-S teams and chapters
• Assist media monitoring by preparing and distributing analysis for specific activities
• Assist with preparing training and capacity building of chapter communications and advocacy initiatives and activities

Knowledge, experience and skills:

• University degree or equivalent qualification in relevant fields
• 1-2+ years of experience in communications, preferably in an international organisation
• Experience in video production, social media content development and media relations desired
• Excellent communication skills in English (to native speaker standard) required; additional languages (in particular Arabic, French and/or Spanish) an asset
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Demonstrated flexibility, initiative and creativity
• High level of intercultural competence, diplomacy and political sensitivity
• Interest in corruption, good governance and international affairs
