Amnesty International's Middle East North Africa Regional Office is based in Beirut, Jerusalem and Tunis. This position is based in the Tunis Office which covers North Africa. This is a permanent contract and we would wish for the successful candidate to start in mid-February 2019.

ABOUT THE ROLES:
As a research-based campaigning organization, investigating and documenting human rights issues is fundamental to our advocacy and lobbying work. Our MENA Regional Office requires researchers to take the lead in initiating human rights research and action by providing regional and thematic expertise, excellent research and report-writing skills and sound political judgement. A campaign-oriented approach to your work is essential. You'll be required to conduct and co-ordinate research activities, monitor, investigate and analyse political, legal and social developments and human rights conditions, give authoritative advice on these areas and prepare reports and human rights action materials.

Please note we are advertising this position at either Grade 4 Researcher or Grade 5 Researcher; your offer will be depending on experience.

ABOUT YOU:
With experience of working on human rights issues, you'll have first-hand in-depth knowledge and experience of Libya including a sound understanding of the political situation and provide analysis. Have a good understanding of the key players, and build strong internal and external networks relevant to Libya. A general understanding and awareness of the political cultures of North Africa. You'll have a background in human rights, activism, academia, law or journalism with the ability to identify and thoroughly investigate those issues and ensure our voice has authority. You'll need proven research and communication skills, impartial political judgement, coupled with strong strategic thought. Fluency in English and Arabic, including excellent spoken, reading and writing skills, is essential.
