Porticus is the international organisation that manages and develops the philanthropic programmes of charitable entities established by Brenninkmeijer family entrepreneurs. Our work builds on the heritage of charitable engagement of Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer, the two brothers who founded the clothing retailer C&A in 1841. We collaborate with partners around the globe to foster human dignity, social justice and sustainability.

Working within Porticus’ areas of education, society, faith and care, as well as in the fields of economic development and climate change, we aim to contribute to systemic social change by combining our global expertise with our grassroots networks all over the world. Porticus currently operates twelve offices on five continents and annually supports more than 2.000 partner organisations in over 90 countries.

Position :

As Programme Manager for our MENAT region (this includes the Middle East, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Israel/Palestine), you will be supporting our partners’ work for peace, civic engagement and youth empowerment in the region. As an expert in your programme areas and in close collaboration with the Regional Director, you will be playing a leading role in the MENAT team.

Key responsibilities As our Civic Engagement Programme Manager, you will:
Develop innovative strategic programmes that aim for systemic and lasting change in this region’s society
Manage strategic partnerships in the region and, where relevant, globally
In collaboration with our grant managers, assess partners’ fit with Porticus’ strategy and requirements
Support partners in implementing, monitoring and evaluating their initiatives
Identify opportunities for innovative global and cross-regional programmes
Contribute to interregional engagement and collaboration by sharing knowledge and experiences internally and externally.            
Requirements :

For this strategic position, we require:
A Master’s degree, preferably in social sciences or in related fields
Extensive experience in peacebuilding, civic engagement and youth empowerment work
Deep knowledge of the Middle East, you preferably already have a network in these sectors
6- 8 years’ experience related to grant making, an international working environment, programme design and development, monitoring and evaluation of programmes particularly aimed at systemic change
Languages: professional working proficiency in English (Arabic is a major plus)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong networking skills, our ideal candidate is a bridge-builder.
Additional information :
You will be a member of a regional team of 19 colleagues based in Vienna and collaborate with a number of colleagues worldwide.
You will report to the Regional Director of Central and Eastern Europe/MENAT and work in close collaboration with the regional grant managers and thematic experts around the world
The position is based in Vienna, but frequent travel to the Middle East will be required
