North, South Korea to discuss economic projects

Seoul: Bolstering its ties with North Korea, South Korea said it will discuss major economic projects with its neighbour.

"The two sides plan to have a meeting on linking and modernizing cross-border railways Tuesday at the Peace House, a South Korean administrative building in Panmunjom, according to the Ministry of Unification," South Korea's Yonhap News agency reported.

A three-member South Korean delegation, led by Vice Transport Minister Kim Jeong-ryeol, is scheduled to visit Pyongyang, the agency reported quoting government sources.

Meanwhile,  the two countries will hold a meeting at Tongilgak, a Panmunjom pavilion on the northern side, on Thursday, to discuss road-related cooperation.

The neighbours will also hold an inter-Korean meeting on forestry cooperation, which is scheduled for next Wednesday. However, the place of the meeting will be decided later.

South and North Korea will also work together on the maintenance of Mount Kumgang resort, which will host the family reunion scheduled for Aug 20-26.

The cost of the maintenance is likely to be shared by the two nations.
